Slow Opportunities Investing Locally

Our mission is to ensure the resiliency of our farmers and our planet by empowering local food systems through 0% interest loans.

SOIL Boulder has given 43 loans at 0% interest to local farmers and food producers totaling $1,170,450.

Loan recipients range from long-standing family farms to a new generation of farmers, ranchers and food producers including:

Grama Grass & Livestock

Yellow Barn Farm

Drylands Agroecology Research

Boulder Broth

Boulder Valley Honey

Speedwell Farm & Gardens

Rough & Ready Farm

Croft Family Farm

Ollin Farms

Masa Seed Foundation

Red Wagon Farm

Aspen Moon Farm

Black Cat Farm

Labyrinth Dairy

Our 0% interest loans are made possible by contributions from individuals, local businesses, NGO’s and farmers seeking to invest in the resilience of our local food system.

Your contribution today will become a part of our regenerative pool of funds for the farmers of today and tomorrow.

Annual membership begins at $250 per person or $25 for farmers and is a tax-deductible donation. We gratefully receive donations beyond the annual membership rate.

How it Works

  1. Become a member of SOIL with an annual tax deductible donation of $250 or more. Farmers join for $25.

  2. Our regenerative pool of funds for local farms and food producers grows.

  3. Farmers and food producers apply for 0% loans and SOIL members vote to approve them. One member = one vote, no matter the size of your annual donation.

  4. As loans are repaid, the capital goes back into our funding pool and becomes a new loan — a truly regenerative resource for local food and agriculture.

Local food is all about relationships, as is soil fertility. We need a new kind of funding that supports both. That is why we are making Slow Opportunities for Investing Locally.

SOIL Boulder is listed in the 1% for the Planet directory. Article: Why businesses commit to 1% for the Planet

SOIL Boulder is an Environmental Impact Partner

1% for the Planet is a simple but powerful commitment: donate at least 1% of your annual sales to environmental charities, not as an afterthought but as a built-in part of how your business operates.

Corporations can make a donation directly to SOIL Boulder as part of their commitment to the planet.

Many thanks to our corporate sponsor American Outdoor Products for nominating SOIL Boulder.
